1W1P was a year-long project of spontaneous architectural designs developed by Axel de Stampa and Sylvain Macaux in 2013. The two architects are graduates of the Ecole d’Architecture de Paris-Belleville who challenged themselves to design one new architectural proposal per week for an entire year, shared on their website platform.

The two architects describe their work as "based on actual observations from daily life" with only one rule: "to propose spontaneous and open projects". "No matter what the space, whether it be urban, rural, or digital, there is always something new to offer about it. It's possibilities for the future are waiting to be borne out...and its up to us to give it a new identity and reveal the place for what it is."

What about this work speaks to me most? Not only do I admire the audacity of each design, characterized by unconventional proposals and experimentation in form and utility, but Stampa and Macaux don't hesitate to step outside of their field. The pair describe their design process as a "collective enterprise" which mixes "a truly multidisciplinary practice with (a) desire to hear from different viewpoints." Their designs blossom from observations nourished by investigations beyond the boundaries of architecture. Collaborating and researching with non-architects, in order to inherit information that drives particularly unique and inventive proposals, the product of the year-long effort is a refreshing portfolio full of 'food for thought'.
